Nigeria's Kwara Falcons are set for their 1st game against the Rwanda Energy Group.

Nigerian basketball team, Kwara Falcons have arrived in Dakar Senegal.

Kwara Falcons the reigning Nigerian Premier Basketball League champions are set to reprsent the country on the continent.

The Ilorin-based side are Nigeria's sole representative in the 2023 Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Kwara Falcons prepare for BAL

Ever since their qualification for the BAL, the team led by Head Coach Jibril Baba Kadri insisted that his side intends to be competitive on the continent.

In a report by ESPN, he said, "The BAL is a different tournament, it is a higher league, there are more people with vast experience and quality that we are going to face.

"But we are not going to go there just to participate and come back home. This is an opportunity that does not come easy so we want to make it count by making a statement when we get there."

To prepare for the BAL, Kwara Falcons traveled to Abidjan to take part in the Orange Ball Tournament.

The team recorded two losses against Stademalien Bamako and  Abidjan Basket Club Fighters.

Their only victory at the preparatory tournament was against the Kadji Sports Academy of Cameroun.

Kwara Falcons land in Dakar for BAL

Since their participation at the Orange Ball Tournament, Kwara Falcons have now landed in Dakar, Senegal.

The Dakar Arena in Senegal plays host to the Sahra Conference of the 2023 BAL.

At the 2023 BAL, Kwara Falcons will represent Nigeria in the Sahara Conference.

In the Sahara Conference, the Kwara Falcons will battle against Abidjan Basket Club of Côte d’Ivoire, AS Douanes of Senegal, Rwanda Energy Group, Stade Malien, and Union Sportive Monastirienne of Tunisia.

The team is in high spirits ahead of the tournament as they had their first training session in Dakar.

They begin their quest to make it out of the Sahara Conference with their opener against Rwanda Energy Group scheduled for Sunday, March 12, 2023.
