Adebayo believes the Heat were not active on defense against the Hornets.

The Miami Heat suffered a 122-117 loss to the Charlotte Hornets in an NBA fixture played on Sunday, January 29, 2023.

Led by Terry Rozier the Hornets produced an offensive outburst against the Heat in an Eastern Conference matchup.

The Heat led by Small forward Jimmy Butler took a back a forth first quarter with just two points.

The second quarter was more of the same as the Heat responded to several runs by the Hornets to make it a four-point lead at the halftime break.

Things got out of hand for the Heat in the third quarter as the Hornets were able to go on multiple runs.

Led by LaMelo Ball the Hornets outscored the Heat by nine points to establish a five-point advantage going into the fourth quarter.

Heat star Butler made big shots in the fourth but the Hornets responded to every haymaker. The final quarter ended u tied as the Hornets held on to get the win.

The Heat went to the Eastern Conference final last year and are struggling for playoff seeding.

Nigerian NBA star Nnamdi Vincent was the star of the show as the Miami Heat beat the Milwaukee Bucks.

Adebayo on Heat losing to the Hornets

Losing to a bottom-feeder team such as the Hornets did not sit well with their center of Nigerian descent Bam Adebayo.

Adebayo in 36 minutes of action recorded 17 points, grabbed four rebounds, and contributed six assists, three steals making eight of 15 shots taken.

Nigerian- American basketball star Nnamdi Vincent came off the bench for the Heat in the loss.

In 18 minutes on the court, Vincent had eight points, two rebounds, one assist, and a steal as he made three of his seven shots.

Speaking after the game, Adebayo an all-defense player explained how the other side of the offense was responsible for the loss to the Hornets.

He explained that if the team played better on defense against the Hornets they scored enough points to win the game

He said, "We shouldn't have let them get in that flow... It was hard for us to come back."

Tyler Herro another Heat star backed up the statement by Adeabyo on how defense cost the team.

He added, "We gave up the lead by (turning the ball over), not getting back in transition, and not applying enough force on the defensive end..."

Adebayo and Vincent return to action for the Miami Heat when they take on another Eastern Conference rival the Cleveland Cavaliers in their next league fixture scheduled for Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
