World champion Sha'Carri Richardson praised the fan support at Grand Slam Track in Philadelphia, and how ATHLOS can imbibe from the atmosphere.

Sprint queen Sha'Carri Richardson has emphasized the importance of fans support at track meets, praising Grand Slam Track in Philadelphia as exactly what the sport needs.

The world 100m champion who graced the meet with her presence to support her boyfriend Christian Coleman and training partners, spoke with NBC Olympics & Paralympics after the two-day competition on fan engagement with athletes and why it should be encouraged.

"Watching my co-trainers as well as fellow athletes competing, continues to show that track and field deserves the audience that it needs and the audiences here cannot wait. And also I cannot wait for ATHLOS to show up as well," she said.

The Grand Slam Track in Philadelphia was the third city of the league after debuting in Kingston and a follow-up in Miami. The organisation and athletes' performances matched the Philly crowd's energy, as Richardson's training partners, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden and Kenny Bednarek, produced the highlights of the meet, clocking world-leading times and maintaining a perfect streak as Slam Champions in the short sprints category in all three cities.

Despite Richardson not signing up for the Grand Slam Track (GST) League commissioned by the legendary Michael Johnson, she was in Philadelphia to support and engage the fans when needed.

Arguably the face of the sport, the Paris Olympics gold and silver medallist snubbed racing in GST to recently sign up for ATHLOS - a women's only one-day meet heralded by the Tennis legend Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian.

For this year's meet in October, Richardson will be one of the star headliners alongside fellow Olympic champions Gabby Thomas and Tara Davis-Woodhall.

Meanwhile, in 2026, ATHLOS will launch a team-based women’s track and field league featuring multiple meets, with the trio serving as advisor-owners.
