'No Fear' - Sha'Carri Richardson ready to turn up for the second half of the season amid spectacular performances by rivals
Track queen Sha'Carri Richardson is unfazed by the spectacular performances her rivals have been producing since the season started. Instead, she's ready to take over for the rest of the year.
The world 100m champion has only raced once this season at the Seiko Grand Prix, where she surprisingly finished fourth in 11.42s. Since then, she hasn't raced again, and many track fans and enthusiasts are beginning to believe she may be against time to be in shape to defend her world title in Tokyo this summer.
Also, with the outstanding performances her fierce rival Julien Alfred has produced so far this season, being undefeated in all her 100m and 200m races, and the rise of training partner Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, who has been in incredible form at the Grand Slam Track League, Richardson has got to give something to shut her doubters wrong.
Alfred currently stands as the 200m world leader at 21.88s, while Jefferson-Wooden clocked two outstanding Personal Best (PB) times at the Grand Slam Track in Philadelphia over the weekend - first, 200m PB of 21.99s, and a world leading 100m time of 10.73s to win both events.
Despite all these, the American star sprinter is unperturbed, tweeting in this regard about her readiness to finally give a show in the second half of the season.
"June is here and I truly have no fear for the rest of the year!," wrote the Olympic gold medallist on her X page.
