Amusan's victory is a comeback statement to global recognition, having not raced since her disappointing semifinal third place finish at the Paris Olympic Games, thus failed to make the final - the first time since 2016 (Rio Olympics) she fell short of making a global championship final.
In December 2024, Pulse Sports Nigeria reported she had parted ways with her long-term coach Lacena Golding-Clark to start training with Usain Bolt's renowned trainer Glen Mills with the hope of reviving her career.
Her sudden switch came as a surprise to many as she has been with coach Lacena Golding-Clarke since 2016 - from her college days at the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) to her history-making moment at the 2022 World Championships in Oregon, where she won the world title and broke the World Record (twice) with legal 12.12s in the semifinals and wind-aided 12.06s in the final.
With media distractions on her coaching situation finally behind, Amusan will be gunning to produce more brilliant performances as the season progresses, with the goal of reclaiming her top spot in women's hurdling division at the World Championships in Tokyo.
