Jamaican record holder leaves USA to train with Tobi Amusan and legendary coach Glen Mills
In a surprise announcement during the off-season, Jamaican record holder Ackera Nugent has joined the legendary coach Glen Mills' training group, which will see her train with Tobi Amusan.
Before this switch, the 23-year-old trained with Chris Johnson at the University of Arkansas, who guided her to win 60m Hurdles bronze medal at the 2025 World Indoor Championships in Nanjing.
However, Nugent had a disappointing outing at the World Championships in Tokyo, where she failed to qualify for the final despite being one of the favourites to medal.
Meanwhile, coach Glen Mills guided Amusan to rediscover her form as one of the world's best hurdlers by winning 100mH silver medal in Tokyo, after the Nigerian world record holder failed to make the Olympic final in Paris last summer. She made the tough decision of leaving her long term coach Lacena Goulding-Clark to move to Jamaica, which has eventually paid off.
By joining Coach Mills at the Racers Track Club and training alongside other superstars such Amusan and the newly crowned world's fastest man Oblique Seville, Nugent will hope to finally maximize her talent as a future World and Olympic medallist.
