ATHLOS NYC 2025: Ta Lou-Smith and Brittany Brown face off in sprint double

Tokyo 2025 World Championships finalists Marie Josee Ta Lou-Smith and Brittany Brown will face off again in the women's 100m and 200m events at the ATHLOS NYC 2025 on Friday, October 10.

Following a disappointing outing in Tokyo, where they both missed out on winning a medal in the women's sprint events, the track queens will be gunning to end their seasons on a high by winning either the 100m or 200m event at the ATHOLS meet in New York and going home with the prize money of $60,000.

In the absence of world champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, Ta Lou-Smith and Brown will face other stiff competitors in Kayla White, Jacious Sears, Zoe Hobbs, and Jonelle Smith in the 100m event, while in the 200m, Amy Hunt, Anavia Battle, McKenzie Long, and Jessika Gbai are expected to put up a fight with any of them capable of winning.

British new sprint star Hunt surprised herself and track fans globally when she blazed to the silver medal at the World Championships in Tokyo. Her success was a clear marker that she now belongs in the elite league of the world's best female sprinters and will aim to extend that form at ATHLOS NYC 2025.

Meanwhile, Africa's fastest woman in history Ta Lou-Smith will hope to successfully defend her ATHLOS 100m title from last year in perhaps her final career appearance on the track, aiming for both victories and end her legendary career on a memorable note.

Likewise, Brown will be gunning to defend her ATHLOS 200m title from last year, which bodes for a thrilling encounter in both events.

The ATHLOS meet will be held at the Icahn Stadium in New York, and it's expected to bring in all the fireworks, with not just brilliant performances on the track but pure entertainment off it.

There will also be the presence of the legendary Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, whose iconic career will be celebrated as the Guest of Honour.
