Announcing retirement? Tobi Amusan's message worries Nigerians after making first public post since Paris Olympics disappointment
World Record holder Tobi Amusan's recent post on her X page has raised worrying concerns from Nigerians, with many suggesting she may be announcing her retirement.
The hurdling queen made her first public post since Paris Olympics disappointment, where she failed to make the women's 100mH final, despite being one of the top favourites for a medal.
Since then, Amusan has been off public visibility and abruptly shut down her season by not competing in any European or Diamond League meets for a chance to at least end the season on high.
Following the end of her depressing Olympic year, Amusan broke her silence by making a post on her X page with the caption:
"So much on my mind, so much to share. But finding the right words isn't always easy. Here's to those who have stuck with me through the thick and thin. Huge announcement on...," she wrote, posting a graphic design to accompany it themed - Homecoming.
Her post has now aroused many reactions from Nigerians with some suggesting she may be announcing her retirement, others of the opinion she wants to switch nationality, and most sending comforting messages on whatever she intends to announce.
