Tobi Amusan alongside three of the world’s greatest hurdlers have been added to the lineup for the inaugural Adidas Atlanta City Games in May.

The competition is a street meet where fans are closely watching the athletes running on the track, so the athletes can feel the energy and support from the fans.

Amusan will compete in her trademark event - the 100m Hurdles. She tops the list with Olympic silver medallist Keni Harrison, whom Amusan toppled her World Record with a shocking 12.12s in the semifinals at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene last summer.

The Nigerian would later win the gold medal in a wind-aided time of 12.06s. Her spectacular season continued as she won a second consecutive gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in a record of 12.30s and successfully defended her Diamond League title in a Meeting Record of 12.29s.

Speaking ahead of the meet, Amusan said she's looking forward to competing in Atlanta.
“I am looking forward to the inaugural Adidas Atlanta City Games. It is going to be great to be so close to the fans.”
Harrison is also optimistic about producing a good performance, as her family and friends will be present.
“I’m excited to compete at the Adidas Atlanta City Games,” said Harrison, the former World Record holder in the 100m Hurdles.

ATHLETICS Tobi Amusan begins 2023 season with a win in Auburn
Tobi Amusan kicked off her 2023 season on a good note, by winning the 200m event in Auburn.
“Being from North Carolina, a lot of my family will get to drive up and watch me do what I love on the streets of Atlanta,” she said.
In the men's category, World indoor record holder Grant Holloway will headline the event. The American has the second-fastest 110m Hurdles time in history at 12.81s, won the last two World Championships in the 110mH and the 2022 World Indoor Championship title in the 60m hurdles.

However, he will face familiar competition with fellow American Trey Cunningham. The talented youngster was the NCAA Champion indoors and outdoors in 2022 before claiming a silver medal at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene.

In an emotional and motivational interview, Tobi Amusan opened up on what it felt like running the World Record in Oregon, and how she started her Masters because of the fear of heartbreak.
“I’m really excited about making my debut at the Adidas Atlanta City Games,” said Cunningham, the second-fastest 110m hurdler in NCAA history.
“It’s going to be my first street meet, and it’s going to be great to have the fans right next to the track while we race,” he concluded.
