Tanzania head coach Miguel Gamondi has officially unveiled his 28-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with captain Mbwana Samatta and experienced forward Simon Msuva headlining the list.
Samatta returns to international duty on the back of an impressive run of form with French Ligue 1 club Le Havre, while Msuva, currently based in Iraq, continues to play a pivotal role for the Taifa Stars after years of consistent service.
A large portion of the squad is made up of players competing in the Tanzanian Premier League.

Gamondi has repeatedly praised domestic clubs for producing competitive talent and maintaining high standards within the national setup.
This year’s edition will mark Tanzania’s fourth AFCON appearance, but the Taifa Stars are still searching for their first progression beyond the group stage.
Tanzania has been placed in a difficult Group C featuring three-time African champions Nigeria, Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles, and East African rivals Uganda.
Gamondi admitted that progressing from the group will require discipline and maximum focus. “We know the challenge ahead of us, but we believe in our preparation and in the spirit of this team,” he said.
Tanzania will begin their AFCON campaign against Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Tuesday, December 23, at the Complexe Sportif de Fès.
