WWE Raw is coming to Netflix from 2025!

In a groundbreaking move into the world of live events, Netflix has sealed a colossal deal with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), taking exclusive rights to WWE's flagship show, RAW, starting January 2025.

The 10-year partnership represents a significant step for Netflix, marking its foray into live sports entertainment with a deal valued at more than $5 billion.

The multi-billion-dollar agreement positions Netflix as the exclusive streaming home for WWE’s Red brand, Raw, in several key regions, including the U.S., Canada, Britain, and Latin America.

This 10-year commitment extends beyond Raw, as Netflix will also have exclusive rights to broadcast all WWE shows and specials outside the U.S.

This includes the immensely popular Blue brand, SmackDown, as well as pay-per-view live events such as WrestleMania and Royal Rumble.

The deal reportedly sent shockwaves through the market, boosting shares of TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE, by a notable 21% in early trading, as per Reuters.

Even though Netflix didn't experience any immediate stock movement, its position as a major player in the competitive streaming landscape remains unchanged.

With WWE Raw being a weekly live broadcast with a massive audience of 17.5 million viewers in the U.S., this move aligns with Netflix's strategy to enhance its ad-supported streaming service (AVOD).

Raw’s prowess in drawing a consistent and substantial audience makes it a valuable asset for Netflix as it seeks to strengthen its foothold in the competitive streaming market.

Nick Khan, WWE President, expressed confidence in the partnership.

"We believe Netflix, as one of the world's leading entertainment brands, is the ideal long-term home for Raw's live, loyal, and ever-growing fan base," he was quoted to have said in a press release.

Netflix's entry into live sports and entertainment is understood to be strategic progression.

The streaming giant has the option to extend the deal for an additional 10 years or choose to opt out after the initial five years.

This flexibility certainly underscores Netflix's commitment to adapting to the evolving landscape of content consumption.

As part of the deal, viewers outside the U.S. will have access to all weekly WWE shows and live events on Netflix.

This includes the highly anticipated pay-per-view specials like WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Royal Rumble.

While the initial focus is on the USA, Canada, UK, and Latin America, Netflix says it has plans to expand the offering to other countries in the future.

Netflix's venture into live events isn't entirely unprecedented.

Its successes in sports-related programming, such as the Formula 1 racing documentary series, "Drive to Survive," and the behind-the-scenes golf documentary series, "Full Swing," seems to have paved the way for this transformative WWE deal.
