Team Kwara has won gold in Table Tennis mixed doubles at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.

Ahmed Fatimoh and Faruq Hussein truimoh gave Kwara the first gold medal.

The duo outclassed their counterparts from Delta State by three straight sets to deliver Kwara's first gold.

Kwara state table tennis coach, Kehinde Aiyelabegan said rigorous training at the open and close camps preceding the youth games in the state paved way for their success in the event.

Gold medalists, Ahmed Fatimoh and Faruq Hussein advised their colleagues not to get complacent in their pursuit of more gold for the state as the games continue for another five days.

The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has revealed that the National Youth Games will help the people of Nigeria foster peace and unity with one another.

Enoh made these revelations during the opening ceremony of the Seventh edition of the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State while breaking kolanuts, a traditional sign of peace, friendship, and positive beliefs.

The theme for Games is peace and greater unity amongst athletes and states participating.

He congratulated the Delta State government for agreeing to host the Games, emphasizing the numerous benefits for both the state and the nation as a whole.
