Zak Vyner: Millions Wrexham Have Offered to Lure Harambee Stars Prospect from Bristol City
Harambee Stars prospect Zak Vyner is close to finalising a transfer from Bristol City to high-spending Championships rivals Wrexham before Monday’s transfer deadline day.
Bristol have decided to cash in on the highly-rated defender, who has been at the club for all his career, after failing to convince him to sign a new contract.
Vyner has just six months remaining on his contract and after stalling on a new deal, Bristol decided to sanction a sale to avoid losing one of their prized assets for free.
How Much Has Been Offered for Vyner?
According to English journalist Rudy Galetti, a fee of £1.5 million (Ksh267 million) has been agreed between Bristol City and Wrexham, with the club legend set to move to the highly-ambitious Welsh side who have been splashing money on top talents since being acquired by Hollywood actors Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds in 2020.

This comes after Bristol rejected a bid of £2.5 million (Ksh445 million) for the defender from Wrexham in the summer in the hope of convincing him to stay only for him to turn down a new contract offer.
Vyner is set for a significant pay rise on his current weekly wage of about £13,000 (Ksh2.3 million) once he signs for Wrexham who hope that his experience and quality will help them move higher up the table and secure promotion to the Premier League.
Bristol Coach Resigned to losing Defender
Bristol coach Gerhard Struber hinted at this when he admitted that he wanted the defender to stay but is powerless as the player might have received an offer he cannot turn down.
"Also, for his personal mindset, this would be really, really good. A decision to stay here for the long term, this would be perfect for him, for me, for the boys, for the club,” Struber said on Thursday. “From the other side, when he has a big offer on the table from another club, maybe sometimes it's also good when he finds a move.”
Vyner, who is currently sidelined with an ankle ligament injury, has been at Bristol since 2004, making 264 senior appearances.
Wrexham are currently on sixth place on the English Championship table with 47 points from 30 games and are hoping to stay in the top six to secure a promotion playoff place.
