World’s richest athlete finally sells Chicago mansion for ₦16 BILLION after 12-year wait
Michael Jordan, the world’s richest athlete and NBA legend, has finally sold his Highland Park mansion in Illinois for an impressive ₦16.1 billion ($9.5 million).
The sale, completed nearly 12 years after the property was first listed, marked a staggering 67% drop from its original asking price of $29 million in December 2013.
The 32,683 square-foot property, a symbol of Jordan’s illustrious career, spent years on and off the market with no buyers meeting its hefty valuation.
Last listed in 2015 for $14.8 million, the property was later removed in 2021 before entering escrow in September.
According to realtor.com, the deal officially closed this week, ending a long chapter for the billionaire's real estate saga.
Michael Jordan’s legendary mansion
Built in 1995, Jordan’s estate boasts nine bedrooms, 19 bathrooms (15 full), and a plethora of luxury features.
From a regulation-sized basketball court to a putting green, tennis court, and circular infinity pool, the property reflects the lifestyle of a sports icon.
Visitors are greeted by a gated entrance adorned with the number “23,” an homage to Jordan’s iconic jersey number.
Inside, amenities include a cigar room, a library, and a 14-car garage, perfect for housing the extensive car collection of any enthusiast.
While the sale comes at a significant discount, it marks the end of a prolonged attempt to offload one of the most famous athlete-owned homes in the world.
