‘We will see’ - Club Brugge manager gives update on Onyedika's fitness ahead of Barcelona clash
The Nigerian international recently returned from a hamstring injury, coming on as a substitute in the club's 2-1 league victory against Dender last weekend.
Onyedika entered the match in the 63rd minute, replacing Romeo Vermant, and his presence was immediately felt as he brought much-needed stability and composure to the midfield.
His impactful performance has led to speculation that he will be reinstated to the starting eleven for the crucial match against the Spanish giants.
Hayen speaks on Onyedika
Following his return, his manager has discussed a potential inclusion in the starting lineup for Wednesday's UEFA Champions League match against Barcelona.
However, when questioned about the midfielder's status, Hayen offered a non-committal response about the player.
"Onyedika is fit enough," Hayen stated at a press conference, as reported by Nieuwsblad. "We'll see tomorrow whether he starts or not."
The Nigerian international has been an important player for the Belgian side since joining in 2022.
His recent injury forced him to miss Club Brugge's last two Champions League fixtures against Atalanta and Bayern Munich, both of which ended in defeat, with the team conceding six goals across the two games.
With the team looking to reverse their fortunes, the midfielder will be eager to feature against Barcelona and help his side get back on track in the competition.
