‘We have signed a great player’ — Werder Bremen boss gushes over Boniface ahead of debut
Victor Boniface’s Bundesliga journey takes a new twist as the Nigerian striker gears up for his Werder Bremen debut.
Coach Steffen Horst has been left impressed by the Super Eagles forward’s impact since arriving on deadline day.
Horst praises Boniface’s quality and character
Instead, he secured a season-long loan move to Bremen from Bayer Leverkusen, and the transition has been smoother than many expected. Coach Steffen Horst revealed that the 23-year-old has been quick to adapt and already looks like a player capable of lifting the team’s level.
“He’s well-received here, I like him, he’s very likeable,” Horst told *Deich Stube*. “Someone who can play football like that will certainly raise the level. I have great hope that this will become apparent and that we have signed a great player.”
The coach added that Boniface’s movement in training often surprises him, describing some of his touches and runs as “exceptionally good.”
Boniface ready to make an instant impact
With Bremen set to face Borussia Mönchengladbach on Sunday, Boniface could be handed his first appearance in green.
Horst’s glowing remarks suggest he is ready to trust the forward with a starting role, especially given his proven Bundesliga record of 22 goals and 11 assists in 42 matches.
The Nigerian striker is already familiar with scoring in Germany, and Bremen fans will be hoping he can replicate his Leverkusen form to fire the club higher up the table.
Beyond this season, Boniface will be eager to use the opportunity as a launchpad for an eventual big move, but for now, all eyes are on his first steps at Weserstadion.
