'We don't settle' - 32-year-old Enyimba coach breaks silence after victory against 'decent' side
Enyimba FC's head coach, Yemi Olarewaju, has expressed his satisfaction following the team's return to winning form in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
The dethroned champions secured a vital victory against newly promoted Ikorodu City, ending a frustrating run of three matches without a win.
In the match held last weekend, Enyimba showcased resilience, overcoming a spirited Ikorodu side with goals from Ifeanyi Ihemekwele and Moses Adikwu.
Ihemekwele opened the scoring early in the first half, while Adikwu sealed the victory with a late goal, ensuring that Ikorodu City’s equaliser from Ajeyigbe Toheeb did not lead to a share of the points.
After the match, Olarewaju took to social media to reflect on his team's performance.
He stated, “Important victory against a decent side Ikorodu City on Sunday. Two sweet goals from the lads even though there are many lessons to learn from the game.
“Sometimes, we may struggle but the mentality and commitment must never be questioned or doubted… We are Enyimba and we don’t settle for less.”
This victory is crucial for Enyimba as they look to climb back up the league standings, where they currently sit in third place with 14 points after eight matches.
The win against Ikorodu City not only boosts morale but also sets a positive tone for their upcoming fixture.
Looking ahead, Olarewaju and his Elephants will face Bayelsa United in Yenagoa.
