We are not afraid of Messi, big names — AFCON finalist declares ahead of Club World Cup
Al-Ahly forward Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan has issued a bold warning to Lionel Messi and Inter Miami ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup opener.
He acknowledged the challenge posed by big names like Messi but expressed confidence in his team’s ability to triumph.
The Egyptian Premier League champions, Al-Ahly SC, will face Inter Miami in the tournament’s first match at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday.
Inter Miami, coached by Argentine Javier Mascherano, have struggled for consistency this season despite boasting stars like Messi, Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Trezeguet said, “Facing Lionel Messi? All the players are focused on this match.
"We will face big names, but when Al-Ahly SC participates in a tournament, we don’t look at any name. Our fans support us. We can overcome all obstacles.”
He added that every player, whether new or veteran, is ready to step up. Al-Ahly, the 2024-25 Egyptian Premier League champions, are in Group A alongside Inter Miami, Porto, and Palmeiras.
