We are a little selfish - Inter Miami owner wants more trophies with Lionel Messi
Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas has expressed his optimism regarding Lionel Messi's contract extension with the club.
Messi's current deal expires at the end of the 2025 MLS season, but Mas hopes to have news on a new contract soon.
According to reports, Barcelona is planning to bring back Messi after the FIFA Club World Cup.
What Mas said
Mas told ESPN that he wants Messi to inaugurate the team's new stadium, Miami Freedom Park, in March 2026.
"We wish for Messi to finish his career here," he said.
He continued, "I am optimistic because we have done everything possible for Leo to feel at home, to feel comfortable."
Mas highlighted the club's efforts to create a winning environment.
He emphasised that the club is doing everything possible to ensure Messi has the best roster to compete at the highest levels.
He added, "We are a little selfish, we would like to see more trophies and obviously with Messi here."
Inter Miami is preparing to compete in the Club World Cup against Palmeiras, FC Porto, and Al Ahly.
