Wamalwa hits hat trick as megalomaniac Shanderema hit Harar 8-0

Western Kenya's football representative in the KSSSA Nationals jamboree kicked off their quest for glory in earnest whipping North Eastern region's representatives 8-0 at Kakamega's Bukhungu stadium on Tuesday.

Forward Maxwell Wamalwa earned instant attraction after notching a scoring three goals as the hosts led 4-0 in the opening stanza before adding three in the second half.

Shanderema had no time for foreplay as they put in their first goal in the 7th minute. Kelly Madada worked his magic in the wing before setting up the goal that home fans hope will be the order all the way to the final day. 

The hosts would go on to score three more in the opening half with Wamalwa slotting in a penalty after fleet-footed winger Elvis Ouma proved too much to handle and was brought down int the box.

The hapless North Eastern reps found the going tougher in the second as Shanderema pumped in a further four goals doubling their first half tally to eight to take control of the group. 

The other Group A participants are Nyanza's representatives Agoro Sare and Central Kenya reps Kiringari High School. Agoro Sare came from behind to win 2-1 against Kiringari. The Nyanza Region representatives will meet Shanderema on Wednesday while Kiringari and Harar will duel.

In Group B, football powerhouse St Anthony's Kitale hit Matiliku by a similar margin with both Aldrine Kibet and Stanley Waswa scoring twice. David Wekesa, Junior Gregory, Alvin Kasavuli, Joseph Omuse scored the other goals. Matiliku are coached by former Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi.

Dagoretti High squeezed a 1-0 victory over Serani Boys.
