Victor Osimhen: Nigerian Striker Luring Man City Defender to Galatasaray

Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen has reportedly held a phone call with Manchester City's Manuel Akanji in an effort to help the Turkish giants secure their third major summer signing, according to habersarikirmizi.com.

Galatasaray has already officially signed Osimhen from Napoli on a four-year deal and Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich. The club is now looking to add a new defender and a goalkeeper before registering its final squad for the upcoming Champions League season. The City centre-back is one of their primary targets.

Akanji, who has been part of Pep Guardiola's team since 2022, has recently struggled for a place in the starting lineup. The Swiss international remained on the bench during Manchester City's Premier League season opener against Wolverhampton, with John Stones and Ruben Dias preferred in central defence.

The Turkish club has also targeted City's goalkeeper Ederson. If they fail to sign the Brazilian, Galatasaray is considering Porto's Diogo Costa and Inter's Yann Sommer as alternative options, adds BTA.
