United to pay over £60 million as Amorim's first summer signing takes shape
Manchester United have met the £62.5 million (approximately €74.5 million) release clause for Matheus Cunha, and Wolves have granted the Brazilian forward permission to discuss personal terms.
Wolverhampton Wanderers previously rejected Manchester United's proposals to pay Matheus Cunha's transfer fee over five years, according to BBC Sport.
United will now pay the full amount for the 26-year-old in three installments over two years.
The transfer is expected to be a formality following the mandatory medical.
While it might seem like a significant step up for the forward, who scored 15 goals in the recently concluded Premier League season, Manchester United finished only one place above 16th-placed Wolves in the 2024/2025 table, with both teams on 42 points.
Cunha initially joined Wolves on loan from Atletico Madrid in January 2023. He made 92 appearances for the club, scoring 33 goals.
His 15 goals during the 2024/2025 season placed him in the top ten Premier League goal scorers, tied for eighth with Cole Palmer.
Liverpool's Mohamed Salah led the league with 29 goals, helping his team to the title.
