UEFA Europa League hails Super Eagles star’s brilliance against Man Utd
The Europa League page on X (FKA Twitter) shared a not-so-old throwback clip, Cyriel Dessers’ incredible goal against Manchester United, which reminded fans of the Super Eagles star’s quality.
The goal in question
Dessers’ strike at Old Trafford early in the year was a textbook poacher’s finish. He received a long pass from James Tavernier, used his body to nudge Harry Maguire off the flight of the ball, spun onto his left foot and swept the ball into the bottom corner in the 88th minute to level the game.
The goal came in round seven of last season's Europa League campaign. However special as it was, Rangers could not extract any value from it during that match.

Manchester United were 1–0 up before Dessers’ goal, and then responded in stoppage time when the Nigerian scored, as Bruno Fernandes scored in the 92nd minute to seal a 2–1 win for United.
What the goal meant for Dessers
Beyond the single moment, the strike was significant for Dessers’ career. The goal was the 150th of his career, a noteworthy milestone that marks an important achievement.
