Zinchenko, who joined the Gunners from Manchester City in 2022, was a huge asset to Mikel Arteta's team.

However, he has recently fallen down the pecking order following his inconsistency and injury crisis.

The Ukrainian is now virtually the team's third-choice left defender, with Riccardo Calafiori and Myles Lewis-Skelly both surpassing the 28-year-old in terms of selection.

Zinchenko is a desirable prospect for the La Liga giants because of his versatility as a midfielder and defenseman.

However, they will need to battle it out with other interested parties who are also looking to sign the Arsenal star.

Borussia Dortmund are among the other parties who have expressed interest, although they might find the financial requirements difficult to meet.

Zinchenko's career, which has previously included stints in the English and Russian leagues, would enter a new chapter with a move to Atletico Madrid, his first foray into Spanish football.

Arsenal may have to choose whether to consider bids for Zinchenko as the January transfer season gradually gets to a close.
