Englishman Anthony Barry has joined Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich as a new coach from Chelsea.

Barry has reunited with his former boss at the Blues Thomas Tuchel and will serve as his new assistant coach at the Allianz Arena.

The 36-year-old, who joins with immediate effect per the club website, completes the coaching crew at Bayern.

He is expected to join Zsolt Low and Arno Michel with all four part of the Chelsea team that led the Blues to the Champions League title in 2021.

Bayer delighted with Barry's signing

Speaking on the move, a member of the board at Bayern Hasan Salihamidzic noted that the club is delighted with the signing of Barry.

He said Barry’s passion and quality were the standout features that led the club to him.

“I am delighted that we have managed to sign Anthony Barry,” Hasan said.

“Anthony completes our coaching team and with his passion and quality, is an ideal fit for Bayern,” he added.

Barry’s brief

The 36-year-old was a former professional having played up to the English third division before he hung his boots in 2017.

He started his coaching career as an assistant at Wigan Athletic before he joined Chelsea in 2020.

The talented coach was also a part of the Belgian national team, the Red Devils, under Roberto Martinez before the Spaniard left for Portugal.

Barry will join Tuchel and his Bavarians as they switch attention to the Bundesliga title race after crashing out of the Champions League in midweek.
