'The big man came in' - Victor Osimhen hails Galatasaray teammate Icardi

The Turkish side began their hunt for the Europa League trophy with a win 3-1 over Greek side PAOK.

Osimhen played an important role in the win, having provided an assist for Galatasaray's second goal.

With 12 minutes remaining, Mauro Icardi replaced Osimhen and scored the third goal to complete the victory.

After the game, Osimhen had an interview about the win and praised his teammate Icardi for his third goal.

The Super Eagles star said on UEFA.com, “The big man came in Icardi to give us the calmness and when he scored it was like the game was over, so congratulations to the whole team and a big thank you to our supporters.”

The opening goal of the game came from an Osimhen header off a Dries Mertens corner kick and deflected off a PAOK defender into the net.

PAOK managed to equalise before halftime, but Galatasaray were able to take the lead in the second half from Osimhen's headed pass that found teammate Yunus, who fired home a powerful shot to secure the 2-1 victory.

Mauro Icardi then rounded up the game with the third goal after replacing Osimhen, who provided his third assist of the season.

Despite not having scored a goal for his new team yet, the Super Eagles star has created opportunities for his teammates.
