Former Leicester City and Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has described the Foxes’ historic 2021 FA Cup triumph as the best season of his career and is hopeful of replicating similar success with Celtic under Brendan Rodgers.
The Nigerian forward, who joined Leicester from Manchester City in 2017 for €27.7m, enjoyed a standout campaign in the 2020/21 season, scoring 19 goals and providing six assists across all competitions.
His form was instrumental as Leicester claimed their first-ever FA Cup title, followed by a Community Shield victory later that summer.
What Iheanacho said
“I think it was the best season I've had in my career. So it was a great, great season for me,” Iheanacho told the Daily Record.
He continued, “We won the cup and we won the Community Shield. It was really good, I loved it. Hopefully, that kind of thing can happen again, maybe here in Celtic, you never know.”
The Super Eagles forward is confident the Scottish champions can provide the platform for him to rediscover his best form.
“I’ve always believed in myself, and I believe in my quality and what I can do. It’s just about getting the opportunity to showcase it. This time now, it came with someone that I know really well and someone that knows me really well.
“He’s a brilliant manager, and the way he manages players is top-notch. I’m happy to be working with him again. I’m really excited,” Iheanacho said.
Iheanacho is expected to feature when Celtic face Hibernian later today, as he looks to get on the scoresheet and continue his resurgence in Scotland.
