Ten Hag praises ‘brilliant’ Bruno Fernandes after Real Betis win
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has praised his captain Bruno Fernandes for his stellar performance in the Red Devils' UEFA Europa League first-leg victory over Real Betis at Old Trafford.
Bruno ignored recent criticism to put in a Man of the match performance
Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United shook off recent disappointments to produce a stunning 4-1 win over previously unbeaten Real Betis at Old Trafford.
Bruno Fernandes had been heavily criticised in the wake of Manchester United’s 7-0 loss to Liverpool in the Premier League but did not let the criticism get to him as he tore Real Betis apart with one of his best performances this season.
The Portuguese maestro was in the mood to silence critics as he scored a great header from a corner kick and assisted Antony’s goal and created two more big chances for Manchester United in a truly exceptional performance on the night.
Ten Hag hails Bruno Fernandes performance
Ten Hag was not oblivious to Bruno Fernandes’ phenomenal performance and duly praised the 28-year-old midfielder in a post-match interview following the win over Real Betis.
He said, “Bruno, I think he was brilliant today. He led the team from the first minute by his game in possession, he made the rhythm of the game and then scored a goal, so I am happy.”

Ten Hag had to come to his captain’s defence after many called for his head following the Liverpool debacle, but Bruno Fernandes has clearly repaid his manager’s faith in him with the epic performance against a very good Real Betis team, so it is no wonder that Ten Hag is so happy with him.
Next, Manchester United face 19th-placed Southampton in the league, hoping to continue from where they left off against Real Betis and also hoping that Captain Bruno can turn up with another impeccable performance for Ten Hag’s Red Devils.
