'We would love her' - Taylor Swift gets NFL's approval to headline Super Bowl Halftime show
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has confirmed that Taylor Swift is “welcome at any time” to headline the Super Bowl halftime show.
What’s the gossip?
During a Wednesday appearance on the Today show on September 3, Goodell was asked whether Taylor Swift might perform at Super Bowl LX.
Without hesitation, he replied: “We would always love to have Taylor play. She is a special, special talent and obviously, she would be welcome at any time”
When probed if she was already in the works for the slot in 2026, he tip-toed, saying: “I can’t tell you anything about that,” but then added with playful reluctance: “It’s a maybe” .
The Ball in Jay-Z’s Court
Revealing who really calls the shots, Goodell deferred to his “friend Jay-Z,” explaining that Roc Nation, the entertainment powerhouse led by the hip hop mogul, is responsible for coordinating the show.
The league’s multi-year partnership with Roc Nation began in 2019, positioning Jay-Z as the NFL’s “live music entertainment strategist,” overseeing the selection of halftime performers and broader entertainment strategy.
And Swift’s potential halftime appearance could very well shatter all sorts of viewership records.
As of September 2025, she is the world's most streamed music artiste of all time.
Super Bowl LX is scheduled for February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, just four months after Swift’s highly anticipated new album, The Life of a Showgirl, drops on October 3.
The timing suggests she could already be gearing up to tour, adding weight to the speculation.
Notably, Taylor’s fiancé, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, adds another NFL connection.
The billionaire pop star is often seen cheering him on from the stands.
Additionally, Swifties proven ability to boost local economies makes this pairing financially compelling for the NFL.
