The couple shared the news with a series of heartwarming photos showing them on a beach, holding sonogram images of their baby.

"Made a human with my favorite human," McLaughlin-Levrone wrote in the post. "Oh, how we have prayed for you… and the Lord has answered!! You are our greatest blessing and are already so loved. We are eagerly waiting to meet you!"

She added a playful note at the end, writing, "Cool parents loading…"

McLaughlin-Levrone and Levrone Jr. married in 2022, nine months after their engagement in August 2021.

A dominant force in track and field, McLaughlin-Levrone is a four-time Olympic gold medalist and the 400-meter world champion. She secured gold in both the 400m hurdles and the 4x400m relay at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and repeated the feat in Paris three years later.

Who Else Has Taken Maternity Leave?

Last September, she also won gold in the 400m at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo with a remarkable time of 47.78 seconds. It was the fastest time recorded by a woman in 40 years, second only to Marita Koch's 47.60-second run in 1985.

Levrone Jr, a former wide receiver, played college football at the University of Virginia before entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent. He spent time with the Baltimore Ravens in 2018 and the Carolina Panthers in 2019 before retiring from the sport in September 2020.

McLaughlin-Levrone is the second high-profile track star to announce that she is taking a maternity break after Beatrice Chebet confirmed this month that she will not be running this year as she is expecting her first child.

That robs track fans two of the biggest names in the sport from the 2026 season but they will be hoping for a great comeback in 2027 where the World Championships will be held in Beijing, China.
