Awoniyi became well-known during the 2013 FIFA Under-17 World Cup after helping Nigeria in the tournament.

He earned a move to Liverpool due to his performance, but he could not play due to a work permit issue.

He was then sent on loan to different clubs before returning to England to seal a transfer move to Nottingham Forest.

Awoniyi speaks on career path

In a new video that the Premier League released, he stated that if he hadn't chosen to play football, he would have pursued his childhood passion of becoming a doctor.

Since joining Nottingham Forest, Awoniyi has been hit by injuries, which has limited his playing time at the club.

Chris Wood is currently the team's first-choice striker, and he has been demoted to the bench after saving the team from relegation two seasons earlier.

Following his limited minutes, he has been linked to West Ham, which has led to rumours that he may be leaving the City Ground soon. 

The interest from West Ham might provide him the opportunity to pick up his game and begin hitting goals once more.
