Sunderland vs Wolves: Arokodare cameo as the Wanderers' winless streak continues following defeat to Sunderland

Wolves entered this game failing to win a single match this season and were looking for their first win and a clean sheet.

However, their winless run continued against Sunderland, losing 2-0 at the Stadium of Light, making it six losses this season.

Sunderland made two changes to the side that started their 2-0 Premier League defeat at Manchester United before the international break. 

Wolves, on the other hand, made two changes to the side that began their 1-1 draw against Brighton last time out. Despite Tolu Arokodare helping the Super Eagles claim a World Cup playoff ticket, he was left on the bench, with Strand Larsen starting in attack.

The host started the game with much intensity and scored a goal, which was ruled. However, in the 16th minute, Nordi Mukiele finished off a delightful move which involved a one-two with Trai Hume to give Sunderland the lead.

In the second half Wolves found it difficult to get back into the game, with Sunderland holding on to their one-goal lead. 

Arokodare came in as a substitute in the 76th minute but could not make any difference to turn the game around; instead, the host extended their lead following an own goal by Ladislav Krejci.

The home team controlled the remainder of the game, claiming the victory and adding more misery for Wolves, who are winless this season.
