The Home based Super Eagles of Nigeria suffered a 4-0 defeat to their counterparts from Sudan in their second match of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The team led by Eric Chelle was full of NPFL players and were unable to score their first goal of the tournament in the game, played on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Sudan entered the match having played out a 1-1 draw with Congo in their group opener

The Super Eagles thought they had taken an early lead, but a goal by Anthony Ijoma was ruled out by VAR.

Sudan opened the scoring in the 25th minute with an own goal by Leonard Ngenge.

Walieldin Khidir doubled the advantage in the 44th minute by converting a penalty, sending Sudan into the break with a 2-0 lead.

The second half saw Sudan emerge better, with Ahmed Tabanja scoring in the 55th minute to make it 3-0.

Tabanja then sealed the rout with his second goal—and Sudan's fourth—in the 62nd minute.
