Sir Alex Ferguson's fury and recruitment tensions revealed after Red Devils missed out on Bellingham

The decision by Murtough, who only permitted Ferguson a brief greeting with the young prodigy, reportedly caused a rift between the two. 

This incident highlights the evolving power dynamics within the club, especially after the departure of David Moyes, Ferguson's chosen successor.

Despite efforts by then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who prepared an extensive presentation to map out Bellingham's potential role at United, the young midfielder ultimately chose Borussia Dortmund. 

The £25 million deal in July 2020 marked a significant miss for United, as Bellingham, now thriving at Real Madrid and England, has since established himself as a key figure in international football.

The report also sheds light on United's scouting and recruitment strategies, particularly highlighting the disparity in valuations. For instance, Brazilian winger Antony was initially valued at just £25 million by United scouts during his tenure at Ajax. 

However, following the arrival of manager Erik ten Hag, who shifted the recruitment focus to his former club, Antony's price tag saw a steep increase, and he was eventually signed for £85 million.
