In a wild 5-4 defeat, Erling Haaland secured Premier League history by becoming the fastest player to reach 100 league goals.

But it was the spirited fightback from Fulham, sparked by Nigerian duo Alex Iwobi and Chukwueze, that grabbed attention, especially from Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 coach, Eric Chelle, who has both players in his provisional squad.

Samu Chukwueze fired two stunning goals against Man City in the Premier League.

After coming off the bench when Fulham were trailing heavily, Chukwueze changed the game’s momentum.

His first goal, capitalising on a mistake from Bernardo Silva, marked his maiden Fulham strike.

Shortly after, he doubled the pressure with a powerful low shot, bringing Fulham within one goal and igniting a thrilling comeback.

Chukwueze shared the crucial message from Fulham manager Marco Silva he received before joining the encounter as a super-sub.

Chukwueze was told to enjoy himself against Man City.

“Samuel, do your thing. Just do your thing, enjoy the game,” the Super Eagles forward said, according to the Premier League.

Reflecting on his performance and the bitter defeat, Chukwueze added, “It’s a good feeling to score two goals, but not a good feeling losing. It doesn’t mean a lot right now. I’m finding myself in this team, the coach believes in me, and I have to give my teammates credit too.”

This inspiring display sent a powerful signal that Chukwueze is hitting his stride just in time for AFCON 2025.
