Ronaldo's Al Nassr return with Saudi billions to tempt Man Utd's Bruno Fernandes
Saudi Arabian giants Al-Nassr are reportedly making a renewed push to sign Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, reigniting speculation about the midfielder’s future just weeks after Al-Hilal failed in their own attempt to land the Portuguese star.
According to A Bola, Al-Nassr are keen to reunite Fernandes with his former Sporting CP coach Jorge Jesus, and even more crucially, with Cristiano Ronaldo, who remains a major influence at the Saudi Pro League club.
Contact has reportedly been made, and Al-Nassr are hoping to seal a deal before the close of the current summer transfer window.
This latest interest comes after Al-Hilal reportedly offered £100 million for the 30-year-old earlier this summer, a deal that Fernandes turned down, citing a desire to compete at the highest level.
What Fernandes said
Fernandes, who has been a central figure at Old Trafford since arriving from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, has scored 98 goals and 86 assists in 290 appearances across all competitions.
“Manchester United said they didn't want to sell me. They said if I wanted to go I could, but they didn't need the money… I want to play in major competitions. I want to be happy doing what I love the most,” Fernandes said in June.
Despite the lure of massive financial gains, Manchester United are expected to resist any offers for their captain.
During the 2024-25 season, one of turbulence and transition for the Red Devils, Fernandes was a shining light, delivering 19 goals and 19 assists in 57 appearances.
Al-Nassr have already signed Joao Félix from Chelsea and have been linked with United winger Antony as they aim to dethrone rivals and win the Saudi Pro League title next season.
