Rhasidat Adeleke: Yoruba heritage queen pockets N11.58m after finishing third at Brussels DL final
The Irish had a test to prove herself, facing off against two of the medal winners from Paris just five weeks after finishing fourth in the Olympics.
On a cool, rainy evening in the centre of the Belgian capital, Adeleke finished in 50.96 seconds inside the King Baudouin Stadium.
Rhasidat moved up to third place in Friday night's Diamond League final in Brussels, following Bahrain's Salwa Eid Naser's disqualification.
Rhasidat wins big for herself
Adeleke was considered for the top-three spot heading into the home stretch beside Naser, who took home the silver in Paris.
The sprinter started her race in lane four, with Paulino starting in five and Naser in six at the Diamond League final.
However, According to Irishtimes, Rhasidat’s win came at the expense of Salwa's disqualification after a lane infringement during the race.
The Irish sprinter received a reward for her performance with a massive $7,000 (₦11.58 million) for finishing in third place.
Adeleke's multiple Diamond League performances during the summer, including her triumph in Monaco on July 12th in 49.17 seconds, qualified her for Friday's 400-meter final, even though she hasn't run any faster since.
Meanwhile, Julien Alfred caps off the season in style with the Diamond League title in Brussels as Sha'Carri Richardson finishes eighth.
The Saint Lucia star ended her season with a perfect victory, beating Sha'Carri Richardson, who finished eighth for the second time in a row.
