Statistics from the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2023, have confirmed that Nigeria’s Super Eagles are the most creative team in the tournament so far.

The Super Eagles have created an incredible nine (9) big chances in two (2) matches but have only managed to score just two goals against Equatorial Guinea and Cote d’Ivoire.

After two rounds of matches at AFCON 2023, Nigeria Super Eagles have won one and drawn the other to sit second in Group A.

With so many chances created in those two matches, the key question is, who is Nigeria’s most creative player at the AFCON 2023?

Here are the top three creative forces for Jose Peseiro’s Super Eagles, who are on a mission to lift the AFCON for a fourth time in Nigeria’s history.

The Atalanta BC man has easily been one of Nigeria’s most impressive players in Cote d’Ivoire.

Lookman, 26, currently leads the creative department for the Eagles, with five (5) chances created, four key passes, one big chance and an assist. 

He kicked off the tournament with two chances, one ended as an assist for Victor Osimhen to head home the decisive equaliser against the Nzalang Nacional.

The Atalanta top scorer followed that performance with another impressive display and a historic win against the host nation, Ivory Coast.

Lookman went a step further against the Elephants, with three chances and three key passes.

Other creators

While Lookman averages 2.7 key passes per game at AFCON, Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze are the other two creative outlets.

Iwobi has created three (3) chances, with Chuwkueze responsible for two chances.
