Paris 2024: What Usain Bolt, Ta Lou-Smith, and Simbine had to say about Tebogo's Olympic gold historic feat
The congratulatory messages have been pouring in for Letsile Tebogo since his history-making feat of winning the Olympic 200m title at Paris 2024, with Usain Bolt leading the pack.
The 21-year-old speedster stunned pre-race favourite Noah Lyles to the Olympic 200m gold in a blazing new African Record (AR) of 19.46s, as American Kenny Bednarek won silver in 19.62s and his compatriot settled for the bronze medal in 19.70s.
With his victory, Tebogo became the first man from Africa to win an Olympic 200m title and a gold medal for his country at the Games, thus cementing his name as the greatest African sprinter to run the event in history.
Following his groundbreaking achievement, Bolt and other track superstars have been sending congratulatory messages to the Botswanan speedster.
Others include Africa's fastest woman in history Marie Josee Ta Lou-Smith, legendary South African speedster Akani Simbine, Tokyo 2021 Olympic 100m champion Marcell Jacobs, and newly crowned Olympic 5000m champion Beatrice Chebet, among others.
