No panic — Turkish icon hails Osimhen for winner's mentality after missing big chance
Galatasaray are currently in a tight race with Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor as they look to retain their Turkish league trophy.
Okan Buruk’s side lead the table with 50 points after a dominant 3-0 win over Caykur Rizespor last weekend, but must look over their shoulders as the pressure heats up.
Osimhen, Galatasaray hailed for winning mentality
Despite the tight race at the top, Sas believes Galatasaray have the perfect mindset to handle the stress of a title run-in.
He pointed to a specific moment during the Rizespor game to prove his point. Early in the match, with Galatasaray leading only 1-0, Osimhen missed a very clear chance to score. Usually, such a miss might make a team nervous, but Sas noticed the opposite.
“When the score was 1-0, Victor Osimhen missed a chance, but I didn't see any panic among the players,” Hasan Sas said.
“I don't see an air of ‘we won't win this match' among the players, and that's the championship reflex.”
True to that "champion reflex," Osimhen didn't let the miss affect him. In the 73rd minute, the Nigerian striker collected a pass from Noa Lang, skipped past goalkeeper Fofana, and finished calmly from a tight angle to make it 3-0.
That strike took Osimhen’s tally to 15 goals in all competitions this season.
The Super Eagles star is currently in unstoppable form, having scored in five straight league matches, and Galatasaray will be hoping he keeps this run going.
