'No be fluke again' - Asisat Oshoala praises Stanley Nwabali after Super Eagles clinch AFCON 2025 Bronze

Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala has heaped praise on Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali following Nigeria’s dramatic penalty shootout victory over Egypt in the AFCON 2025 third-place playoff.

Nigeria secured the bronze medal after a tense 0-0 draw at the Stade Mohammed V, winning 4-2 on penalties to claim a record-extending ninth third-place finish in Africa Cup of Nations history.

Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali once again proved decisive, saving two spot-kicks to swing the shootout in Nigeria’s favour.

Reacting to the result, six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year Asisat Oshoala took to X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate Nwabali’s performance.

The bronze medal offers consolation for the Super Eagles after their semi-final heartbreak against hosts Morocco. Nigeria finished the tournament unbeaten in open play.
