Nigeria vs Libya: William Troost Ekong speaks on Super Eagles captaincy battle with Ahmed Musa
Austin Eguavoen's Super Eagles are getting set to take on Libya in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
The team is expected to be led out once again by William Troost-Ekong, who has worn the captain band over the past year, in the absence of Ahmed Musa.
Musa was named captain by former Nigeria coach Jose Peseiro but was an unused substitute throughout AFCON 2023, prompting Troost-Ekong, the vice-captain to assume the role.

Speaking ahead of the double-header against Libya, the defender was asked about Musa's return to the Nigerian Premier League with Kano Pillars and subsequent declaration that he remains available for a call-up.
“We’re happy he’s back,” Troost-Ekong said at media day in Ikot Ekpene.
“He’s still our captain and he’s welcome back any time.
“He’s our most capped player, a good role model, he’s a good leader and I am happy to deputise for him.”
Musa marked his return to the Nigerian league with a goal in Kano Pillars' 2-0 win over Sunshine Stars at the weekend but it remains to be seen if the former Leicester City man will get a call-up for the November internationals.
