NBA star Dončić set to sign new Lakers contract before start of EuroBasket

Earlier in July, the Lakers signed DeAndre Ayton, with Dončić reportedly playing a "key role" in acquiring the center.

Marcus Smart also mentioned that the Slovenian guard called him multiple times to try and persuade him to join the Mavericks.

Luka Dončić will finalise his contract extension with the Lakers before joining the Slovenian national team for EuroBasket.

According to SportKlub, via Sportal, Lakers superstar Luka Dončić will sign his maximum contract extension before joining the Slovenian national team's training camp for EuroBasket.

"I expect him to arrive after August 4th, when he will have completed all his obligations in the USA," said Slovenia's coach, Aleksander Sekulić.

Dončić is expected to sign a four-year, $229 million contract with the Mavericks, securing his future with the team.
