The 28-year-old is suspected of betting on NBA games, both on final outcomes and specific in-game situations. According to Charania, Beasley was negotiating a three-year, $42 million contract with the Pistons, but discussions have been paused pending the investigation.

Beasley's lawyer, Steve Haney, told ESPN, via GSP, that his client has not been charged and is presumed innocent.

"An investigation is not an accusation. Malik is afforded the same presumption of innocence as anyone else under the United States Constitution. He has not been charged with anything at this time," Haney stated.

Beasley played for Florida State in the 2015-2016 season before being drafted 19th overall by the Denver Nuggets. The 6'4" guard has also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves (2020-2022), Utah Jazz (2022-2023), Los Angeles Lakers (2023), and Milwaukee Bucks (2023-2024), before joining the Detroit Pistons.
