“My wife says I’m fat” – Super Eagles boss Peseiro explains why he is more active on the sideline
Peseiro has led Nigeria to the AFCON semifinals in Cote d'Ivoire despite facing numerous off-field issues and scathing criticism.
The Super Eagles are currently two victories away from taking home the continental trophy after the Portuguese tactician led the team to the semifinals.
Nigeria won four games and drew one under the leadership of the Portuguese coach, including a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over Angola on Saturday in the competition quarterfinals.
Peseiro's reasons for being active
Peseiro stood up, gave instructions, gestured constantly, and observed every minute of all Super Eagles games.
The head coach frequently takes part in all the highs and lows, as well as the celebrations and frustrations of the Super Eagles.
In response to a question about why he doesn't occasionally try to sit down and relax his body during games, Peseiro acknowledged that being mobile helps him lose a few kilogrammes, which would please his wife.
Peseiro said, told MaisFutebol as reported by Soccernet, “If you know me, I’m like that on the bench,”
“My wife says I’m fat and, if I’m standing up, I can lose four or five kilos, and she’ll be happier.
“Then, because I’m an interventionist coach, even though the players sometimes they don’t listen to me.”
Peseiro's Super Eagles will play South Africa in the AFCON semi-final that is scheduled to take place in Abidjan.
