Mugabi signs off for Uganda Cranes duty with man-of-the-match award in Scotland

Uganda Cranes defender Bevis Mugabi will travel for the team’s crucial 2023 Africa Cup of Nation qualifier against Niger in great moods after winning the man-of-the-match in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

Mugabi stood tall at the back to ensure his team, Motherwell FC claimed all the points in a 1-0 over Hearts away at Tynecastle.

Mugabi almost wrote his name on the score sheet in the 20th minute of the game but his powerful header off a set piece was tipped over the bar.

Englishman Callum Slattery scored Motherwell’s lone goal in the last action of the first half.

Mugabi will now fly directly to Marrakech, Morocco, to join the Uganda Cranes ahead of the Niger clash set for Thursday 7th, September.

The defender is returning after a long injury layoff.
