Mourinho charged by UEFA after Europa League final outburst towards Anthony Taylor
AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho has officially been charged by UEFA after the Portuguese manager was recorded hurling insults at Europa League final referee Anthony Taylor.
Mourinho charged by UEFA following Taylor incident
Roma were defeated on penalties in the final of the Europa League against Sevilla, ending Mourinho’s 100% record in European finals.
The former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager was incensed during the game and was booked for confronting the match official after he noticed a string of calls that went against Roma in a bad-tempered final that featured 13 yellow cards, a Europa League/UEFA Cup final.
After the game, Mourinho confronted Taylor in the parking lot of the Puskas Arena, and was captured by cameras yelling expletives in the referee’s direction as the officials and teams departed.

With videos of the confrontation viral, European football’s governing body, UEFA have charged the Roma gaffer with disorderly conduct for insulting and abusive language against the match official.
Roma facing uncertain European future
The Portuguese manager could be facing a European ban as a result of the charges and might also be fined for the incident.
A potential ban at the start of next season will see Roma scratching their heads to select a coach for their first match of next season’s European campaign, as current assistant manager Salvatore Foti is also suspended for that game.
The assistant manager received a three-match ban after the semifinal first leg against Feyenoord, missed the semifinal and final, and will miss the first game of next season.
