He was officially slated to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 last year, but withdrew due to a toe injury.
McGregor has reportedly found renewed motivation following President Donald Trump's announcement that the UFC is planning a White House event in 2026.

Sources indicate the Irishman has re-entered the USADA testing pool to be eligible for this potential event.
As co-owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), McGregor recently appeared alongside the organization's biggest star, Mike Perry.

BKFC founder Dave Feldman was asked about the possibility of McGregor ever competing in bare-knuckle boxing. Feldman revealed McGregor has two fights left on his UFC contract and intends to honour them, having re-entered the USADA testing pool.
According to Feldman, McGregor's plan is to participate in the White House event and then finish his UFC contract before considering other options.

"Conor's got two fights left on his contract. He needs to get in shape. The world is waiting: is he going to man up and do it?" Feldman said on The Ariel Helwani Show. "He told me personally. He whispered in my ear, 'I'm back in the testing pool.' He said, 'I'm getting ready to come back. I'm going to fight at that big event (at the White House), and then I have one more. Then we can talk.'"
While Dana White previously stated McGregor's return wasn't imminent, he has recently hinted that the Irishman "might" participate in the White House event.
