Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has reportedly turned down an approach from Manchester United, choosing instead to remain with the French champions and commit his future to the club.
According to reports, United officials recently travelled to Paris to hold talks with the Spanish tactician as part of their plans for the summer, with Enrique’s current contract nearing its expiration.
However, the former Barcelona boss was said to be unconvinced by Manchester United’s long-term project and declined the opportunity to take over at Old Trafford.
Following the discussions, Enrique is now expected to enter talks with PSG over a new contract, signalling his intention to continue his work in Paris.
Sources close to the manager suggest that Enrique is settled at PSG and sees the club as the right environment to pursue his footballing philosophy.
It is understood that the only club he would seriously consider leaving PSG for is his former side, Barcelona.
Enrique enjoyed a highly successful spell at the Catalan giants, winning LaLiga titles both as a player and later as head coach, alongside other major honours. His deep connection with Barcelona is believed to be the sole exception to his commitment to PSG.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are expected to continue their search for managerial options as they plan for next season.
