The Gunners needed a boost after failing to win their last three EPL games, with last weekend's result against Manchester United denting their title hopes.

Despite their impressive performance in the UEFA Champions League, winning all eight games in the league phase, they have been on a downward spiral in their domestic campaign in January.

However, they got back to winning ways, with a 2-0 victory over Leeds, who are battling to escape the relegation zone.

As it happened

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke made a single alteration to the team that secured a draw against Everton on Monday, with Gudmonsson replacing Bornauw.

Elland Road remained a formidable venue for Leeds, who have only been defeated twice at home throughout the entire season.

In a significant tactical decision, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta benched captain Martin Odegaard from his starting XI.

This move sees Kai Havertz handed his first Premier League start in approximately a year, slotting into the midfield.

Arsenal started the game dominating possession and pinning Leeds back in their half, but were limited to a few chances in the first 20 minutes.

However, the Premier League leaders made the breakthrough from Noni Madueke, who found the head of Martín Zubimendi to head home.

The Gunners then doubled their lead before the halftime break, with Madueke putting in a cornerkick, which Leeds goalkeeper fumbled into his own net.

In the second half, Victor Gyokeres added the third goal before Gabriel Jesus came in as a substitute to put the finishing touch with the fourth goal to the game.
